Where did the trauma response come from?
Sometimes very bad things happen and some people experience
traumatic events, such as being in a fire or a flood, a bad car accident,
being severely ill or injured, seeing someone else beaten or injured,
being abused, molested, raped, a victim of incest, witnessing a sudden or
tragic death, or going to war.
These kinds of events too often result in what secular psychology refers
to as Post- Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
What is the result of trauma?
Sometimes the trauma events occur in early childhood, leaving deep pain
and wounds that severely stunt the individual’s emotional growth and
healthy development. It sets up patterns and opens doors to many
strongholds, including root of bitterness and unforgiveness.
This then becomes the root source or cause of many dysfunctional and
ungodly beliefs, attitudes, behaviors and addictions.
Difficult losses or transitions such as death, divorce, or abortion can also
leave scars or wounds in the heart and soul (mind, thoughts, will,
intellect, and emotions).
Traumatic memories can be resolved.
People can be restored to live the victorious life God intended for them,
and to fulfill their life’s purpose and destiny.
What kind of help is available?
Evaluate and see how wrong patterns of thinking or behavior may have
developed and have become part of your life.
Maybe you have already spent too much of your life walking in pain with
sorrow and suffering. Perhaps it is now the time for you to make the
choices necessary to cut the ties of the past that have kept you bound in
the mud of destruction.
Jesus tells us in John 8:32 “Then you will know the Truth and the Truth
will set you free.”
